About Alex
Alex Zichettello got his degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Cooper Union Albert Nerken School of Engineering and has spent 10 years working at Honda Research & Development beginning as a Automotive Exterior Design Engineer. He gained practical project management experience while leading a small team of engineers through the release of new vehicles from project inception into mass production.
Concurrently, Alex began working with his brother on Project AMPLE, an initiative to create personalized tools and processes needed to achieve challenging goals using the principles of AMPLE: aim, motivate, plan, learn and educate. Alex discovered his passion for Knowledge Management and began to apply it to his day-to-day work at Honda.
For the past 5 years, he has been leading KM and related operations initiatives for Honda engineers, now with projects spanning his 650+ person business unit and beyond. Alex is no longer working on vehicle developments, but his intimate knowledge of the product release process helps him to discover insights on how to strategically enact change in fast paced cultures.
Outside of Honda, Alex has a never ending passion to help others grow and he firmly believes knowledge management will lead the way.

Document Purpose
The purpose of this document is to act as a “personal bible” that chronicles the important aspects of my life and helps to guide me each day and on into the future. Since this is a complex externalization of my thoughts, feelings, experiences, and knowledge, it better represents the true state of my beliefs than my feelings at any one given time, so keep this in mind when referring back to it. This is a live document and should be continuously improved upon as my life changes and I have new experiences
Review this document, at minimum, each 3 months and adjust/add anything I feel is needed. Keep track of updates in the “history” section at the end of this document. Reviewing this document will also provide guidance for when I’m not sure what I should do next or how to resolve any issues I might be facing. Use the items in this document to classify my goals elsewhere.

My Personal Mission Statement
To explore and strive to reach the potentials of life. To be a leader of society who awakens the best in others, fosters good relationships and is a benefactor of good. To achieve a high state of individualism and freedom through courage, creativity and wisdom. To enjoy and live a healthy life.
My Personal Passion Statement
My life’s passion is to help people be happier in life through achieving a more complete understanding of themselves, empowering them to define and achieve success in life.
My Core Values
Truth is more important to me than comfort or happiness
Shared value with Ben
People are more important to me than relationships, systems/processes, experiences or things
Personal autonomy is more important to me than social approval [Self-direction]
It’s more important to be able to freely explore yourself than to be approved by society (internal over external)
Fairness [Universalism]
The world and life are not fair, but I believe in working towards making it fair for all
It is my duty to help improve the world [Achievement]
See Our Values Planning @ Alex
My Core Beliefs
True open-mindedness is the willingness to allow your perspectives to change, even if they are core beliefs
We are all biased by our past experiences and current beliefs
We are limited in our understandings of things (unknown unknowns)
Life Memories & Thoughts (2016) @ A good scientist in my mind needs not only a strong desire for truth but an intimate understanding of the psychology of truth seeking. And certainly a creative mind.
People aren’t essentially good or bad but rather a result of the accumulation of mental choices (whether conscious or unconscious)and associations they made as responses to experiences throughout their life
These accrue in various ways including the lifestyle, relationships and habits formed
A healthy mind is flexible and adaptable at all stages of life
People are able to change their behaviors and beliefs
The best motivation for change comes from within
With education and practice, all people can use their thoughts and behaviors to counteract ill states of being

What Is Humanism?
The capability of the human mind can be enhanced byexternal tools including computational machines
Consider Human Knowledge Management Faults (HKMF) versus Computer Knowledge Management Fault Analysis (CHMF)
Where does AI fits into this? My Thoughts on AI
True love is the ability to overcome one’s own ego for the benefit of another
Maybe not right…love exists in degrees of how much a person feels they need to live for another person or thing. This is related to ego because the integration between two people involves a blurriness between those two people’s ego’s like the ego merging into one.
Need more consideration on this…
People are influenced by the external environment whether they realize it or not
Human attention is being competed for by more people than ever and in more clever ways than ever before due to businesses competing using better and better understanding of consumer psychology and technology
The human consciousness is easier to understand and work with when we recognize the division of parts within the self (see Internal Family System (IFS) Notes)
A person can be more or less in touch (and aware of) their parts and parts can be more or less aware of each other as well. The dissociative scale is a spectrum of how in touch the parts of a single person are to each other and the central self.
Alex life log - December 2015 @ 12/14/2015: My brand of psycho-philosophy (&K)
We should treat the beliefs of others the way we wish our beliefs to be treated: with seriousness and respect
Even when we may disagree with or even find those beliefs as “stupid”, we should put the effort in see them as real and valid. Only from this place could beliefs be questioned. And beliefs can only be changed from within oneself…only indirectly can be beliefs be influenced by others.

Absolute individual freedom is impossible to be achieved collectively
Absolute freedom of one person necessarily takes the freedom away from another
Equality requires a balance of reduced freedoms across groups
The horizon of understanding is bounded by the limits of perception; what lies beyond is often obscured by the veils of our senses
There always exists the possibility of more unknown unknowns

Thinking in Systems - A Primer (Book) @ Everything we think we know about the world is a model. Every word and every language is a model. All maps and statistics, books and databases, equations and computer programs are models. So are the ways I picture the world in my head—my mental models. None of these is or ever will be the real world.
Thinking in Systems - A Primer (Book) @ I believe we must learn to wait as we learn to create. We have to patiently sow the seeds, assiduously water the earth where they are sown and give the plants the time that is their own.
Thinking in Systems - A Primer (Book) @ We live in an exaggerated present—we pay too much attention to recent experience and too little attention to the past, focusing on current events rather than long-term behavior.
