I agree with this statement. But I think it frames our lives in such a way that gives a “bad” feeling to our progress, perhaps even hindering getting into a flow state, in which the concept of “catching up”, by necessity, ceases to exist.
Attempting to align flow states with tasks that bring one ever such closer to a rationally decided-upon future state is what should be of one’s primary concern (rather than playing catch up.)
